• Legal or Illegal Gambling

Gambling has always been mainly associated with casinos but, there are other forms of gambling, legal and illegal, that have flourished with gusto throughout the world.

In every part of the world there seems to be the arguement whether to legalize or not the prevailing gambling in that country. The debate is still ongoing whether it is really beneficial for one individual and for the government.

Lotteries have been quite productive. Horseracing is considered the elite's gambling choice, and lately dog racing has been a big crowd drawer. One must not forget that in Las Vegas all sports are big gambling attractions. With all of these types of leisure gambling going on one might think if it should be supported by the government or not.

Gambling has been so rampant that even beauty contests, TV reality shows, racings, sports of all kinds have been bet on. You would not be surprised when people start betting as to when famous and popular people will die. In other words there seems to be no limit on what we will gamble on.

An old adage can be asserted by many that, "If you can't lick them, join them." Anyway, it is the consensus that all gambling will be legalized anywhere as much as the government would want to have their part of the taxation of the gambling.

The support that the gambling industry is getting from the lawmakers, legislators and even the head of state or republic is truly remarkable. Why would they waste their time and credibility to pass legislature that will be in favor of gambling? Is it really for the benefit of the nation or is it for their own good? Although gambling has resulted in broken homes, suicides, homicides and has destroyed productive people in all ways possible, gambling has helped finance public projects and institutions like schools, hospitals, and the like.

There are indeed major benefits that legal gambling has produced. Many government-owned charity institutions are making headway with what gambling proceeds. But, it may seem that there is much more disadvantages that those that can be brought to individuals who are engaged in gambling.

Global gambling is a phenomenon that will be with us forever. It has been since the time when Adam gambled paradise for a woman named Eve. That may be the reason why many groups of people are pushing the legality of this since man cannot live without it anymore.
